Coleman Tent Trailers: One Out of Three

Coleman tent trailers have been bestsellers for decades. Tent trailers, also known commonly as pop-ups, continue to grow in popularity each year.

Started in 1967, Coleman started to manufacture folding trailers in Pennsylvania and merged with Fleetwood Enterprises in 1989. Thus Coleman became the most extensive recreational vehicle manufacturer in the world. One out of every three RVs on today's roads is a Coleman/Fleetwood model. coleman camping trailers

Most tent trailers go for $5,000-$10,000 and include a heater, a place for cooking and grilling, and even an outdoor shower. On the higher end Coleman tent trailers campers can also get a toilet, a room that slides out manually and more cooking features. Aside from costs like gas, tolls, etc. campers must also buy a hitch.

Simple and Convenient

A tent trailer is easy to tow and they range in weight from 1,500 to 4,000 pounds. That means it can be hooked up to most vehicles including the SUV, truck, mini-van or even a large sedan. They are steadier when towing than large trailers. Their low profile saves on gas, and decreases wind buffeting by passing cars and trucks.

Campers will need an appropriate trailer hitch. Try to find information about the trailer's weight and towing capabilities. Dealers are always helpful in getting just what you need. Tent trailers are a great investment for those just entering the camping/RVing world. They are affordable and meet the basic needs of camping without getting sticker shock of an RV.

With over 30 years of experience in the pop up arena Coleman camping trailers meets the needs of most campers as much today as three decades ago. After all, one out of every three campers will tell you the same.

UPDATE 2011: Unfortunately early in 2011 the company contracted to make Coleman Folding Trailers, FTCA, Inc., went out of business. FTCA purchased the Somerset plant from Fleetwood in 2008. Hopefully Coleman will find another supplier of these great fuel saving camping trailers.
