Delicious Camping Recipes

Camping recipes help you slap together a delicious meal that will really liven up your camping experience. After a day in the fresh air, your appetite is pinning the ravenous meter, you’re starving but not quite ready for some bland re-hydrated food.

Camping Recipes

Roasting weenies and marshmallows over an open flame is fun and tasty, but that gets boring after a day or two. Make your trip more enjoyable by having a few simple recipes on hand.

Obviously, you're probably not going to be cooking up any seven course meals, but there are many simple recipes that are delicious when cooked over a campfire.

Camp recipes make the process of going camping easier. If your camping trips are anything like my old family trips, there is a lot of hectic running around, buying things at the last minute, throwing them into a cooler and running off. Which works... don't get me wrong, it's just that having an idea of what you're going to eat before you go will make life easier for you.

There are unique challenges in preparing meals out of doors without modern appliances.  Cooking over an open fire is very different than putting something into an electric oven. Recipes for camping must be adaptable to temperature variations and require minimal cooking gadgets. You cannot bring a food processor into the woods!

Cooking over the camp fire is one of the best parts of camping. Anyone can bring some tin foil and wrap whatever they are going to eat in it, then cook it over the coals. That's pretty simple and fun, too.

Camping recipes just add to the fun of camping. Kids always love the tradition of making s'mores and roasting hot dogs over fire while gathering around to tell campfire stories.

A collection of tasty, easy to prepare meals can even include foods found in the woods such as fish and berries. Having a knowledge of how to identify and prepare these wild foods is something every camper ought to know.

So before you go camping again, check out the camping recipes here on this site. Take a look around on the internet, or go through a couple of cookbooks and find two or three simple recipes, and try them over the campfire. It might be a little challenging. You may have a few burnt spots here and there, but I promise you it's well worth the trouble!
