Homemade Camping Trailers
Campers Take Do It Yourself to a Whole New Level
Do it yourself has reached a whole new level, homemade camping trailers are
popping up all around the United States. This craze is sweeping the camping
nation by storm, art and camping collide to make one amazing piece of camping
equipment!
Most people at one point in their lives consider the life on the road, even
if it’s only in their rock star dream tour. But others make it happen and you
wouldn’t believe how they are doing it! Do it yourself has reached a whole new
level, you can now build your own camper. That’s right your dreamer camper is
within reach, you just have to design and build it yourself!
These homemade campers designed by real people can be the simple pull behind
models or huge pop out wall models. They can be all shapes, colors and styles
any idea the owner dreams up can be done if he or she has the skills to do it.
Only limited by the size of their trailer, these are sure to shine!
The homemade camping trailer starts out as a simple flat trailer, from this
point the builder builds a frame, like they would for any home. The wood frame,
electrical wiring, and insulation are sealed within a wood shell, the wood shell
in itself is amazing, the curves that are required take true skill to achieve.
After all of this is sealed and set, the wood is covered in aluminum (or
other light weight metal) and painted. Painting is the fun part, after all no
one else will ever have the same look.
There is also no brand name on the diy camper trailer, so the builder gets to
make their own brand name, you always knew your name would look good in lights!
By this point not many people would know that it was homemade.
The inside is what really takes the cake, after all who knows what you want
in a camper better than you? The owner gets to design the space within the
homemade camping trailers,
however he or she wants, the only limit being the available space. Having
limited space really brings out the clever nature in these builders.
Tucking in almost a full house on top of a trailer is hard work, each square
foot has to be used wisely. Most builders use half size appliances to fit in the
most cabinets, other’s build bunk beds, some even find ways to make stuff pop
out of the walls and ceilings! Angles and folding furniture also help the
builder achieve an at home feel with the space to still move around when needed.
Each of these homemade campers is as unique as the owner and their plan.
Planning is key, you need to have well thought and laid out blueprints, size
and price considerations and the right materials. Materials are of course the
most important item in any job but do it yourselfers know, this is where you can
set yourself apart and save money. Builders are not only doing the unthinkable,
designing homemade camping trailers, but they are recycling while doing it!
The smart builders are planning ahead and getting materials from scrap yards,
estate sales and everywhere else they can find that bargain! Making the build
your own camper idea not only more affordable but Earth friendly! The owner then
gets to drive around and get compliments on something they knew was thrown out
by someone else, but they made it beautiful, they made it a camper.
Now we aren’t telling anyone to go out and find a trailer to build your own
homemade camping trailer, there is a lot of skill involved. You have to think
that these owners are building a small mobile house. A house with all it’s
plumbing, wiring and the additional need for road safety. These also aren’t
completed in a weekend most take months to years to complete which is why we are
so impressed with these campers and builders. Our hats truly go off to these men
and women proving that American ingenuity is still holding strong!
Ingenuity is the best word to describe the ideas, planning, design, building
and recycling that goes into each camper. Every owner gets a truly unique
feeling, they get to say “I made my camper” and each night go to sleep in their
dream. The pride that they feel can only be described by those who have and
designed their own homemade camping trailers.
