A Camping Shower Enclosure for
Backwoods Privacy

Unless you’re camping at a campground with facilities, you’ll have to make other arrangements if you want to shower while on your camping trip.

But to really have a good shower, you kind of need a little privacy. And that’s hard to come by when you are camping outdoors. That’s where portable shower enclosures come in handy.

Lack of privacy is one of those things that makes camping miserable for so many people. And I would guess that this is discourages quite a few of the less hardy folks from camping at all in the backwoods. A shower tent really makes your trip more pleasant for everyone.

A good enclosure is made of tough ripstop nylon and should be easy to setup. The shower enclosure will have a hook for hanging your shower bag of hot, warm, (or cold!) water. Most of them don’t have a floor, so an optional platform to stand on is quite convenient. Some types of shelters have mesh drain vents to easily release water. And some even have a mesh top with a rain fly for ventilation. The higher quality ones are roomier and even have a storage place for toiletries.

Beware of choosing a cheap and flimsy shower shelter that is so small that there’s no room to move around. I think that it’s worth the expense to find a quality one that will meet your needs and stand up well to outdoor use.

Many shower enclosures also come with a showering system! There’s a wide variety of camping showers available. Most are solar-heated, but there are more expensive ones that will quickly heat the water for you.

Outdoor shower enclosures are handy for more than just showers. There are so many uses for them. Shower tents can be used for dressing, changing clothes, and a privacy screen for a portable toilet.
