Home Built Tiny Travel Trailer, you too can build one.

by Ron D
(Los Osos, CA USA)

I have a trailer that I built from scratch that is the size of a teardrop trailer. In fact I belong to a teardrop forum that now has almost 11000 members from all over the world. And will be camping with 100 of them next month.

I save in gas pulling it too. I pull with a carolla with a 4cyl and have pulled it thousands of miles. There are several forums out there this one is beginning to learn how to make canned ham Tiny travel trailers for those who camp in rain or cold and need the kitchen inside. Many offer free plans because they are true hobbyists.

To look for such sites google: teardrop trailers, free plans for teardrop trailers, Teardrop forum. You may find your self enjoying a Dutch Oven cooking which makes dinner very filling. I finished mine 2007 but have never stopped adding new fun things to my trailer.

So if you are tired of tent camping and want a roof over your head for not to much you might think about building a Tiny Travel Trailer and join in on the fun.

where to look for home built trailers
by: Ron D.

Search under Teardrop and Tiny Travel Trailers, to find forums with many Ideas.
I have camped with several group gatherings of home made trailers in California in the past 3 years. There are lot's of ideas from classic trailers to canned hams to small travel trailers to Teardrops trailers to totally unusual looking units that people sleep in and still pull with a car or truck. We all have different ideas as to how set them up and use them.

Kudos!
by: Norm (Practically Camping)

I think it's great when I see articles that promote being a do-it-yourselfer in the camping world. It never ceases to amaze me that self builders often surpass the usual manufacturers in quality and comfort.

I haven't embarked upon this type of adventure yet, but plan to at some point in the future.

Do you have any pictures of the build?

Again, kudos!

Irrational Fears

by J Rossetti
(Montreal)

Camp Topic for discussion : My most irrational fear is heading out into the darkness to use the outhouse.

I am not afraid of the dark, or the forest or the forest in the dark, but I am afraid that there is some kinda' boogey man hiding down the johnny hole just waiting for me to sit down !!

Is that not irrational !!!
