I would rather go camping than to go anywhere else on vacation. The first time I went many, many years ago, I was hooked. Now with a grown family and now grandchildren, it makes it that much more enjoyable.
Sometimes we don't have a lot of extra money, but we will go to the KOA Campground right in the next town. Believe it or not, even though we are a hop, skip and jump away from home, it seems like we are a hundred miles away.
I am the designated (cook) when we go camping, and just love making breakfast for the whole bunch of us. I am not just talking about slapping a scrambled egg on a plate...and there you go.....I am talking about, eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, pancakes, french toast, juice and fresh perked coffee right over the campfire. There is nothing like waking up to the smell of fresh coffee brewing.
I do allot of planning ahead and some pre cooking so it saves times with other meals........but to me there is nothing more relaxing than sitting around a campfire at night and just listening to the crackle of the fire, or watching and help the Grandkids make s'mores or other snacks they can come up with.
I know to some people camping is a complete turnoff, but don't knock it unless you have tried it.
Right now we are planning a trip to Jordan Lake here in NC. It is about 70 miles away, but the lake is enormous. There are so many things to do also. Swimming, hiking, horseback riding, fishing, boating, hiking, etc.......I can't wait until July when we take off for the lake. I know we are going to have a great time.
Happy Camping to all of you who love it........
