Camping is an outdoor recreation activity enjoyed by people worldwide, in all walks of life. Campers pack up the essentials, and travel to a wilderness area or campsite. They camp in an outdoor area overnight or for several days.

Camping itself is the act of spending time in a tent, RV, or other shelter. Preparing meals outdoors by cooking over a campfire or barbeque is challenging but returns delicious results.

Why is camping fun?

I guess for most campers, the primary reason for camping is to enjoy nature. For others it may be the challenge of outdoor activities.

Camping is also a wonderful opportunity to spend quality time with family and friends. No modern distractions. Nothing to do but enjoy one another's company on a family camping trip.

Camping supports a wide range of activities. Fishing, hiking, swimming, biking, and canoeing are all activities enjoyed by campers.

Now how can you have fun camping?

Learn the details of camping before you go. Plan ahead. Decide what you like to do and work your camping activities around that.

Have the proper camping gear and know how to use it before you go. It will make a big difference if you are prepared ahead of time.

But camping can be miserable

Being unprepared makes misery, especially when camping. If you go unprepared, you really preparing for failure. Lots of things are ready to go wrong if you aren't on the ball.

Then be prepared

Make a camping check list of what you'll need, and double check it before leaving. Everyone's needs levels are different. You'll have a much better time if you have the gear you personally need to be comfortable.

Don't like to be cold? Have plenty of warm clothing and a good quality sleeping bag and you'll always be cozy.

Camping goes both ways

Camping can be fun, or camping can be the opposite. Prepare ahead of time. Know what you are going to do, and what you'll need to do it.

You can have a fun camping trip every time... Anytime... as long as you make the extra effort before hand.
